Alhambra Orchestra

The Alhambra Orchestra was founded in 1990 to provide amateur
musicians an opportunity to rehearse and perform classical music.
The Orchestra gives six to eight performances per season (October
through June) at various locations in the South Dade, Miami, Florida
region. Participation is open to anyone of at least intermediate
proficiency who wishes to play. No formal audition is required.
Members pay minimal dues. People from all walks of life participate
in the ensemble. Professionals, retired persons and students all
share their love of great music in the Alhambra Orchestra.

I invite you to join your Florida Philharmonic Orchestra as it

The Gainesville Symphony Orchestra was founded by a group of local
musicians in 1983. Dr. Raymond Chobaz, conductor of the University
of Florida Orchestra, was invited to be the Music Director and
Conductor of the Gainesville Chamber Orchestra. In 1995, the Orchestra's
name changed to the Gainesville Symphony Orchestra reflecting
more accurately its size and stature. The Orchestra consists of
professional musicians from the community and some gifted university
and high school students. The season's concerts are presented
in several series. First there is the CELEBRATION SERIES. This
is a series of three concerts at the Center for the Performing
Arts at the University of Florida and at Memorial Auditorium.
Both internationally acclaimed soloists as well as highly regarded
local soloists perform with the Orchestra. The well-known violinist
Nadja Salerno-Sonnenberg and Gainesville's own acclaimed pianist
Kevin Sharpe, who teaches at the University of Florida, are two
examples of the wonderful talent that have played with our Orchestra.

Acclaimed 52 piece orchestra performing musical selections of
the highest quality. The 2002-03 concert lineup encompasses musical
styles for everyone, including masterpieces by Mahler and Beethoven,
a fully staged production of Bizet's Carmen, and popular music
from Broadway to bluegrass to Dixieland. Also taking the stage
with the JSO this season will be esteemed soloists such as Gil
Shaham, Elmar Oliveira, Angela Cheng and Marvin Hamlisch.
